  • I hate having synesthesia I want to be NORMAL. please, can you help me? is there anyway to get rid of it that you know of? please, I just want to be like everyone else.

I’m really sorry that you feel that way. I’m sure all of us have gone through that feeling. But synesthesia isn’t anything you can get rid of. Now, it is known that certain medications can affect it, by enhancing it, dampening it, changing the responses. But I DO NOT recommend taking any unnecessary medications just for the synesthetic side-effect. As of today’s technology, you’re a synnie and you can’t change that. But if it bothers you, there are things you can do to maybe handle it better. I can’t tell you what to do, because it depends on your own circumstances, but maybe expressing your synesthesia through art might make it more of a gift than a burden. And truly, it is a gift. It makes you unique. Be proud of who you are. I really hope you can take something from this. If you need us, we’re always here on the blog. Talk to us, we all want to help. That’s what we’re here for. :)

  • Just BTW, there are more than two types of personification. You can personify anything in any sense. I have OLP, OP, and sound personification.
    Anonymous

YES! Very true! Technically it’s the same with any form of synesthesia. Just match up two senses, and there ya go!

  • Why ticker tape instead of pain > grapheme or something like that?
    Anonymous

Because the words or letters are floating around.

  • When counting up types of syn, would you group similar types together (taste > personality, smell > personality, ect. together because they associate personality), or would you count each connection as a separate type?
    Anonymous

    Each connection as separate :)

  • When I'm in pain I see colors and letters like that other anon, but the letters also happen even if I can't hear anything. Is that still ticker tape?
    Anonymous

    Yes :)

  • I have OLP, general OP, smell > taste, number form, and pain > color. The other day as I was stepping out of the shower I started to feel dizzy. Usually I just see green, red, and purple when I'm dizzy, but this time I saw dark purple letters in my vision too. In the past when I've been in extreme pain I've seen purple, black, or red letters as well. Would that be related to one of the types I already have, or is it something else?
    Anonymous

I don’t know why you’ve been dizzy, but it seems that you’ve been developing ticker tape synesthesia (which is pretty rare). :)

  • There's a man whose brain sees numbers with shapes, colors and feels. He can recite over 22k digits of Pi!

    AND he’s a synnie :)

  • i’ve never posted on a blog before excuse the noob >w>

When I was younger, I used to think everyone saw colors in words and heard shapes. I found out only certain people had synesthesia when I was 13.

But I still kind of wish everyone had synesthesia. The world would be way more colorful, and it would be a great icebreaker to ask a person what senses they got from a certain letter and all that. :p

  • I sent the bracelets today, but that’s not what I wanted to tell you guys. I taught the post office clerk what’s synesthesia (cuz she asked me what I was shipping and I had to tell her about the bracelets). She took it really well. She kept asking questions and was really attentive. She said at the end “The things that happen in this world..” :)
