Types of Synesthesia: Chromesthesia (sound-color) and i’ve always been a projector on that. I see colors with certain people’s voices, also, but that’s only with people I really care about.
How did you find out about it?:I was reading “A Mango Shaped Space” by Wendy Mass and as I got further into the book, I started to realize “Hey, this actually may not be normal”. I went to research it more and it’s all history from there.
How does it affect you positively?: I can remember song lyrics by how they sound, and it just makes everything more interesting.
How does it affect you negatively?:When I’m walking to class, it will sometimes bother me because I cannot focus. I feel dizzy and I just feel like I need to close my eyes, although I can’t.
What type of syn would you like to have for a day?: I would like to have either SSS or lexical-gustatory because that would be quite amazing. I mean who wouldn’t want watermelon pink to taste like chocolate?
How do you explain your syn to non-synnies?: I say “Synesthesia is when two sense “wires” in your brain are crossed. This means when one sense is simulated, another is simulated in response.”
I then go on to tell them about the colors I see, like my friend Ian’s voice is lilac and my other friend Josh’s voice is sunflower yellow. Or how there is a difference in color with the sound of a string bass (candy apple red) and an electric bass guitar (cream).
