when studying a score (either for performance or simply just to learn how the great composers worked their magic), i oftentimes will scribble over the notes in colored pencil using my personal synesthesia key. this allows me take in the mechanics of whole passages at a glance — the connections between the notes jump out at me much more this way :)

whenever I play a standard black-and-white key piano, the keys i’m about to play “light up” in their corresponding synesthesia color in my mind’s eye. one day when i have a bajillion dollars, i will have a custom-made electric keyboard that actually DOES light up, so i can see it with my real eyes, too! <3 a girl can dream! <3
